Spring stole this day from Winter. It was sunny and relatively warm, and definitely pleasant to be outside. A winter day without bad weather, one day closer to the real Springtime.
Lizzie looked under the railing of the deck at nearby birds…

…but while Lizzie stayed on the deck, Caitie quickly hopped down to the ground. Here she is, at what you might call the point of no return.

When she realized the birds had flown away, Caitie began to nibble some green blades of grass. Nicky observed her…

…and then joined her.

Thanks again to the Calico Girls and their human for hosting the first annual Nap-a-thon at their home in the beautiful piney woods of Idaho. Kelly reports that a splendid time was had by all.

Pat + I went out for dessert last night to Cold Stone Creamery; we had our current favorite, Banana Caramel Crunch.
While we waited in line, I looked at the sign for Sinless Sans Fat Sweet Cream, and read that it contains the artificial sweeteners sorbitol and erythritol.
Those names just don’t sound appetizing — they sound like something you’d put in your radiator: “Yeah, I put a 50-50 mix of sorbitol and erythritol in there just before winter, and now she’s good to 40 below.”
But while looking up info on erythritol, I found a weight-loss site with the great name Put Down The Donut.

Tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of the day we adopted Lizzie from Animals In Distress. In honor of the date, here are 10 pictures from the January 1996 videotape. (As somebody said long ago, “If this be self-indulgence, then make the most of it!” Or something like that…)
First, Pat completes the adoption paperwork at AID.

Our new cat peers out anxiously from her carrier…

…and meets her new big brother Kelly, both in the carrier…

…and out, on the lap of her new human Pat.

We gave Lizzie her own room — the spare bedroom — for the first week with us, to get her used to her new home. For the first day and a half, she hid in the box spring of the bed, in the area illuminated here by the flashlight.

Pat patiently visited Lizzie often, and before long, the little torbie cat began to explore the room outside the box spring.

A toy mouse on a piece of fleece for kneading. Lizzie looks, then attacks, and finally carries off her prey, like a good little huntress.

I feel better now, but a cold had me down a bit the last couple of days. Let’s sum things up quickly here: Wednesday after work, Pat + I dashed to the local mega-mart for provisions, and when we got home we unloaded the car and I drove to my 7:00 haircut appointment.
Once shorn and back home around 8 o’clock, Caitie accosted me in the upstairs bathroom and demanded her usual brushing. I went along with it, not only because she is a Good Cat who deserves good things, but because after she jumped off my lap a few minutes later, as I hoped, she led me to the spare bedroom.
The Calico Diva jumped on the bed, and I lay down next to her. Draping the sheepskin on my abdomen, I let her knead and knead as long as she wanted, and when she climbed down and lay down beside me on the mattress, in a matter of minutes, I conked out. My get-up-and-go had, as they say, got up and went. About 4:30 a.m. I woke up, fed the cats, got a little water for myself, and went back to sleep for a few more hours. Been trying to catch up on missed blogging and blog surfing tonight. And so, back now to checking out the blogosphere…

Just a few short years ago, a cat named Max was approaching his senior years as a resident of the Royal SPCA. However, one good human realized he had much more to give, and opened her home to him.
Now this 22-pound ginger tom is known as Fat Eric, and is on his way to becoming a World Famous Blogging Cat. (And “…it’s all Good” is doing its part to help!)
