Friday Cat Blogging: Happy 10th Gotcha Day, Lizzie
Tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of the day we adopted Lizzie from Animals In Distress. In honor of the date, here are 10 pictures from the January 1996 videotape. (As somebody said long ago, “If this be self-indulgence, then make the most of it!” Or something like that…)
First, Pat completes the adoption paperwork at AID.

Our new cat peers out anxiously from her carrier…

…and meets her new big brother Kelly, both in the carrier…

…and out, on the lap of her new human Pat.

We gave Lizzie her own room — the spare bedroom — for the first week with us, to get her used to her new home. For the first day and a half, she hid in the box spring of the bed, in the area illuminated here by the flashlight.

Pat patiently visited Lizzie often, and before long, the little torbie cat began to explore the room outside the box spring.

A toy mouse on a piece of fleece for kneading. Lizzie looks, then attacks, and finally carries off her prey, like a good little huntress.

Happy anniversary Lizzie! I’ve known some days in the cat rescue place too, and adoption is a Good Thing. Hope you have lots more fun years with your humans.

On behalf of Lizzie, thanks, everyone, for the nice words and good wishes. She’s a happy girl now, and at night she loves to join Pat in bed and purr and tuck her cold nose into the crook of Pat’s elbow. Things could have worked out so much worse for her, but we’re happy we were able to give her a home.

Great photos and wonderful story….all our cats have lived under the beds in the cheesecloth of the bed springs. Funny….kiss to Lizzie!
