How We Spent Our Summer Vacation (#3)

Posted in Summer Vacation at 0:05

Like last Monday’s report, this summer vacation report also comes from HersheyPark. Late in the afternoon, as we were getting ready to go home, a mallard hen decided to move her ducklings, and never mind the dozens of people she and they would pass along the way.

The peepers stayed close to the mother duck, crossing the brick sidewalk and making their way across the grass…

…and toward a busy road winding through the park. A bus was coming. Would she try to lead them across? Would the bus be able to stop?

Yes and (fortunately) yes. The bus braked and the hen turned back, and then the bus continued. But as soon as it was past, mother duck started across again. This time, she got about halfway across when a car approached them.

The car slowed and stopped, and remained stopped until the last duckling had leaped from the pavement onto the curb on the other side.
