The Royal Scam
While I was growing up, like a lot of kids, I could do (and usually did, regardless of whether anyone asked for them) bad impressions of folks like Ed Sullivan and Richard Nixon and Howard Cosell.
Now a much more talented French impressionist named Gérald Dahan has used his skill to trick Socialist presidential candidate Ségolène Royal. Dahan talked his way past gatekeepers for Royal and spoke with her on the phone, convincing her he was the Prime Minister of Quebec.
Royal had already stirred up controversy in Canada for her prior remarks supporting Quebec independence, which she compounded in her guileless conversation with Dahan.
