Men Cats Monday: Nicky vs. Kelly
While Pat prepares Stinky Goodness for the Good Cats, Nicky and Kelly jockey for position.

Everyday life with Good Cats, plus anything else that comes to mind.

Maple on the top, forsythia on the bottom, both budding, and both now receiving hours of steady rain. Last Sunday was Easter Sunday, and today is nor’easter Sunday.
It’s been cool and wet so far this spring, but browsing through photos taken in past Aprils I see pink cherry blossoms and smooth white tulips, and bright red tulips too.
It’s an unusual storm for this time of year, but it’ll soon pass and things will be warm and bright, the way they’re supposed to be in spring.

In February this year, Nashville blogger Katherine Coble told the story of the experience she and her husband had with a job placement agency. The agency tried playing rough with the Cobles, but they didn’t back down. The blog called “VOLuntarily Conservative” sums up the situation very well. In addition, Bob Krumm joins in the fun by trying to Google-bomb the agency. However, the word is that Google has altered its site-rating algorithm to thwart such things, so it looks as though Mr. Krumm’s tactics are going to be a miserable failure.

That last one especially gets an amen from this corner…

This little blue flower is among the first to appear every spring, and this particular one is next to the wooden ties surrounding Pat’s garden.

Nicky was born in a discarded box by some railroad tracks in New Jersey. Yet, after we adopted him, we learned our Gatito Perfecto has a keen appreciation for the finer things in life. He has always preferred premium-priced food to any lower-cost brand. But we can tell you that his expensive tastes aren’t limited to what he eats. Not long ago, Pat found Nicky playing contentedly with one of the extra-warm (and also premium-priced) insulated socks Pat wears around the house on cold winter days. Now, it’s true that cat ownership means responsibility for its physical needs, which includes helping to keep it active and entertained with toys – and not only those items created to be toys, but also the objects, like paper bags and boxes, that a clever cat turns into its playthings. Just the same, we drew the line at Pat’s best warm socks. All in all, we believe Nicky (like our other Good Cats) gives us much more than can be measured with any cost-benefit ratio, and in return we pamper him to the best of our ability with lots of goodies, love and affection. If the little guy wants to be recognized as a Good Cat and properly spoiled, he’s come to the right place. |
