Nature Takes Its Course
A week ago, I told you about the robin’s nest in the holly tree at our house. Yesterday, the nest was empty, too soon for the eggs to have hatched. I also found two broken eggshells while mowing the lawn. We can guess the rest. It’s the way nature works.
In the year 2000, a killdeer made a nest on the ground in our back yard. Those eggs all hatched, and Pat’s son took pictures of the nest, as well as the chicks. Coincidentally, this week’s “What a Good Cat!” tells about how the Good Cats reacted to having a tricky bird living on their property for a month.

Thanks for the comment yesterday about Katie. She is a good cat (she only has bad habits that she learned from mamma spoiling her)
I’m sorry to hear about the bird eggs. I was looking forward to hearing about them, and the Good Cats reaction to them, and of course, the pictures.

That’s too bad.
At my niece’s home, she has a robin’s nest in one of her trees. Two eggs fell out with one remaining in the nest. Of the eggs that fell out, both were broken. The nest is a bit tilted, most likely from the wind.

I’m not sure why, but this news makes me feel kind of sad. The eggs were so pretty and blue.

I know this is how these things sometimes go, but it still makes me sad. I saw a single egg on our driveway a few days ago after we had some terrific winds and that was pretty sad, too. When my mom first saw the eggshell she thought there was a new baby high in the tree, but then she saw that it wasn’t even a baby bird yet.
