3 Good Dots Saturday…
I feel good today… its going to be another hot and humid day, with a chance of thunderstorms for the 3rd straight day, but we’ve got the air conditioning going…
– Another reason to feel good — my mother is recovering after having an operation this past week. Still in the hospital, but I talked to her a little while ago, and she sounded stronger than I expected…
– The Good Cats have been Good Cats, as usual. Caitie caught next door neighbor calico Tig strolling around on our property, and had a little beef with her. Tig ran home with Caitie close behind her, and we haven’t seen the neighbor cat since. Hoping our neighbors got the idea and will keep a closer watch on their responsibility…
– It’s that time again: Kelly and Caitie’s annual checkup with Dr. Donovan. Kelly’s lost 2 pounds since his checkup last year, down to 21 pounds, so we’ll keep doing what we’ve been doing with him. One, carefully monitor his food, keep him from scarfing up the other cats’ leftovers. Also, get him walking around more when he’s outside. He’s not one to play with toys, but he does like to stay with his humans, so we walk around the house and from one end of the property to the other, and he usually follows us…
Kelly and Caitie were glad to be home. However, Nicky could smell that vet-smell on them, and wanted nothing to do with either of them (as you can see below). What Nicky doesn’t know is that he and Lizzie are going to the same vet in two weeks…

– Linux Redux: Been wanting to have some form of Linux as an alternative to Windows, but all the previous attempts with Ubuntu and Kubuntu (supposedly good choices for an absolute beginner) just didn’t work. I’d download the ISO file, burn it to CD, pop it in the CD drive and boot the PC, and things just weren’t OK. This past week I went back to distrowatch.com, read the good reviews of the brand-new release of PCLinuxOS 2007, and decided to give it a shot. On the PC upstairs, the live CD worked. (On the laptop downstairs, it doesn’t. Not yet, anyway. But I’ll keep trying.) Impressive how easy and simply PCLOS accepted the mouse and keyboard. I was on the Web within minutes. Performance was encouraging enough to keep trying with the laptop, too…
– And now, here’s a word from our alternate sponsor:
– Need to get ready to go now; Pet Supplies Plus has a sale on their basic scoopable litter ($6.98 for 40 pounds) so we’re heading over there to stock up… and I see by the calendar that it’s also Adopt-a-Cat month. (Don’t tempt me!) So, I’ll talk to you later…

Glad your mom is doing well, definitely good news.
Sounds like the vet visit went well. (”Hide Nicky, hide Lizzie!” says Miss Midnight.)
Adopt-a-cat month … hmmm … there certainly has to be another good cat that would fit in nicely.
May be Windows caught on that you were downloading Linux to try out and may be replace it.
Hot and humid not a good combination, so stay dry and cool.

WOWIE! Nicky looks exactly like a black panther in that photo! But Kelly does not seem very worried. We had thunderstorms (from Barry) all day yesterday but it is SUNNY today, so I got to go outside on my harness. I went right to the edge of the water, but Mommie has to watch me very closely because one of the alligators lives in the water right outside our house!
