Oscar, Bandit, and Kelly
It’s about 4 p.m. our time, and I’m guessing most everyone who cares about cats has heard by now about Oscar, the so-called “Death Cat”.
This next isn’t quite the same, but Oscar’s story reminded me of when my brother-in-law Dan was dying of cancer a few years ago. My sister Yvonne told me one of the family’s cats, a lady tabby named Bandit, kept him company when he was bedridden. Dan was never a cat person, but Yvonne said this cat’s devotion (or whatever its motivation) meant a lot to him.
Speaking of devoted cats, when I woke up today, Kelly was on the bed next to me. I’d like to think he was not practicing to take Oscar’s job… but I rubbed his tummy, and he turned on the turbo-purr.
Too soon, I needed to get up for work, and began to take my hand away. Kelly reached out a Big Guy paw and draped it over my hand, so I stopped. Then he took his other front paw and nudged my hand a few inches to the right, and when it was in place he lowered his head onto it. “OK, human, enough tummy rub, now I want you to be my pillow.” (What a Good Cat he is!)

Oscar is a gorgeous cat, but I’m not sure I would want him to snuggle me.
Kelly is a good cat - he knows what he wants and takes the necessary steps to get it!
