Coincidence time: This past Sunday, Pat, Joyce and I went to the Blueberry Festival in nearby Bethlehem. There were quite a few classic cars on display on the festival grounds, plus this gorgeous two-tone Buick in the parking lot…
Back at work the next morning, I ran across this clip on YouTube, back when the screens were black and white and that Buick was brand new:
More snapshots and more memories from the Blueberry Festival to come…

Not only is it Meezer Rule Wednesday out in Kitty Colorado, it’s also the 2nd birthday of Maxie, Midnight and Tuxie, collectively known as the Musketeers. It appears that they’re celebrating with considerable napping interspersed with relaxation. Dino and Egypt and Kitty Dad (plus spirit cat Pebbles) can be happy at how well the little ones have grown up.

The Swing
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside—
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown—
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
Stevenson, Robert Louis (1850–1894).
A Child’s Garden of Verses and Underwoods. 1913.

Comic-strip creator Mort Walker said something like, “If your humor is all in the dialogue, you’re a writer, not a cartoonist. Make sure you draw lots of funny pictures.” That came to mind while watching the trailer for the new Simpsons film — in French.

Not only is catnip prolific, it also grows into plants large enough for our Big Guy. Actually, there’s more than enough for more than one Good Cat, but as you see here — and as Nicky saw close-up when this photo was taken — catnip does not put Kelly into a mood to share. No, it’s clear he’s telling Nicky, “Mine! All mine!!” That kind of fierce defense is another thing that makes our Kelly Cat a Good Cat.

Used to be there were lots of major league baseball players older than me. The number dwindled over the years, down to just a few… Phil Niekro, Nolan Ryan, Charlie Hough… and then there were none.
Julio Franco eventually came clean about his real age, so he’s now the oldest man in Major League Baseball, but he’s still younger than I am. (Listed as a 22-year-old rookie in 1982, he’s actually now 48 and will turn 49 August 23.)
OK, so it’s too late to find out whether I could hit a big league fastball. But in this online test, my best reaction time was .16 seconds. And, just one false start in a dozen trials. Not bad for a guy who can call Julio Franco “Junior.”

I don’t speak the language, so I don’t know what they’re selling with this commercial, but gee, it’s fun to watch…
