3 Good Links Thursday…

Posted in Cats, Summer Vacation, This, that and the other at 16:44

Easing back into things after a couple of weeks away… time spent usefully, more or less… not much TV, although I have gotten into Mad Men and am following Design Star with Pat on Sunday nights. For the most part, though, I tried to talk less, listen more, and learn something. As for our cats, they have been — as always — Good Cats, and beginning tomorrow we’ll again attempt to supply photographic proof right here in cyberspace. Traditional Friday Cat Blogging this week will feature our Kelly Cat. For today, here are 3 Good Links:

One Good Cat Link: Although Annika Sorenstam isn’t dominating women’s golf the way she used to, reading this story about her engagement seems to say that she has her priorities in order. The article is from Golfweek, which is lax in its journalistic duties. Yes, they reported the engagement story, but inquiring minds want to know — just how many cats does Annika have? Not surprising that she likes cats, though… they both like going for birdies, y’know?…

One Video Link: Speaking of sports, about forty seconds into this clip from an NFL pre-season game, a cat gets in on the action… one announcer admits to his ignorance about the greatness of cats, and another misidentifies the cat as a calico:

One Other Link: Finally, Lance Briggs of the Chicago Bears bought a brand new $345,000 Lamborghini Murcielago about a month ago. Then last Monday, he wrecked it. On the case is a site called WreckedExotics.com, which has one picture of it, and the Chicago Tribune, which has a photo along with the rest of the story.

The Good Cats extend a welcome to everyone who’ve dropped by via these sites:

    • Weekend Cat Blogging #115 with Amar and Luna at CatSynth
  • Happy birthday, Emma E.! I just read that Emma is now one of the most popular names for girls. Guess Dad knew what he was doing way back (and I do mean WAY back) when… ;-))

Going to take a couple of weeks off from blogging… need to do this, that and the other, and won’t be able to devote the time here, but will be back right around Labor Day…

    3, 4… 5?

They keep finding more newborn kittens at Stolen Moments. The story so far is that tortie Kiddle has appeared mysteriously in their lives, and because there are good people around, she has stayed and given birth. First they thought there were 3 kittens, then they saw a black one they’d missed before, and now there’s a fifth kitten with Kiddle. You’ll read that the kittens need good homes, but the rule is once you name them, they’re yours. Well, go see Blondi and Dickey and the Stooges…

(Hmm… they overlooked a kitten because he was black… this sounds like a very familiar story

Good Things: Good as I wanna be

Posted in The Good things in life at 0:05

One good thing: Two rabbits began scuffling and disturbing the warren peace, but a couple of roosters weren’t chicken and they stepped in to break it up. Via Across-the-Board.

And another one: There has been another security problem with WordPress, and while an updated version is now out, it seemed like the time to look into alternatives. That’s how I learned that Movable Type is going open source soon. Still, in the opinion of at least one man, MT has a lot of catching up to do. However, the competition between them should benefit all of us.

And a third one: Two of the biggest stars of the 20th century sharing the stage…
