Easy Like Sunday: Kelly and Lizzie

Posted in Cats, Easy Like Sunday, Kelly, Lizzie at 9:10

Lizzie has the entire red fleece blanket to herself, but Kelly, the Big Guy, has both the Snuggle that DKM knit for him and his own dark blue fleece blanket.

(There’s a better view of that Snuggle over here.)

Green and Growing: Light and shadow

Posted in Green and Growing at 17:23

It’s been a beautiful fall day. Breezy, perfect for hanging out the bedsheets, which I did after Pat washed them this morning.

Fall is Pat’s favorite time of the year, and I like fall days like these too, but they’re challenging for taking photos. The automatic exposure meter in the little Konica-Minolta camera doesn’t always see things the way I do. The bright sun will wash things out if I don’t allow for it, and sometimes there isn’t time to allow for it when trying to take a picture of a cat.

If I see an overexposed picture like the one below in the little preview screen, I either decide to try to fix it later in Photoshop Elements or…

… take another picture.

And here are a couple of shots of a morning glory that’s growing at the side of the house. Due to the bright sunlight, the flower in the top photo has some areas that show up as white instead of the violet-blue it really is. Just the same, I liked the different color combinations caused by the light and the shadow. The real color shows up better in the picture below it.

And now, here’s a word from our alternate sponsor…

Late Update

Posted in This, that and the other at 23:27

Best day yet for Pat… she’s asleep upstairs, and I’ll join her after posting this.

Maybe it was the nurses who checked up on Pat yesterday, maybe it was the Boost and the Gatorade, but I’d like to think it was the chicken soup… she makes good soup, and today she helped me make a pot. I did the cutting and chopping, and she watched to make sure it was done right. And then we both enjoyed it…

Song of the night: “Mary Shut the Garden Door”, Donald Fagen. DF has done some extended songs in the past that sounded padded, but this isn’t one of them… smooth music. Pointed lyrics, I might add — it wouldn’t be Fagen without them — but man, does it go down easy…

Good Guys Finish First

Posted in This, that and the other at 14:25

Busy day so far… Pat got a call this morning from her sister-in-law Connie, and then two visits from home care nurses, one for a standard checkup and the other to evaluate her for post-surgery rehab. Recovery is still going well, and now Pat’s resting on the couch across from me on this laptop.

I’m going back to work now, but as long as you’re here, how about taking this quick quiz? Kelly scored a 56, which proves that not only is he a Good Cat, but also a good guy. But gee, I’ve known that for 12 years… :-)

Charley’s Doing Fine

Charley the cat has Cerebellar Hypoplasia. So do many other cats with caring, understanding humans. The cats don’t feel sorry for themselves — they’re too busy living.
