Posted in Cats, Nicky, Thursday Thirteen
at 0:05

- I call him “El Gatito Perfecto” in honor of Gato, a stray black cat I cared for back in college. Gato was a good cat.
- When Nicky was a kitten, Pat said his face looked smooshed in, and she kiddingly called him “Piggy”.
- His favorite human is Pat, and he’s very protective of her. When the doorbell rings, he growls threateningly.
- He used to like to play what Pat called the Rollercoaster Game. Starting on her lap, he would roll onto his back and wriggle down her legs before dismounting:
- Nicky will also play fetch, but only when it pleases him to do so:
- He takes a few pieces of dry food in his mouth, then grips a toy mousie in his jaws and chews and growls. It’s not hard to imagine what he’s doing.
- He hates having his claws clipped, but loves the Zoom Groom.
- More than any of our cats, he seems to enjoy batting toys under the entertainment center and making Pat fish them out.
- He is a cat who has a healthy mistrust of the vet: When we take him to Dr. Donovan, he yowls all the way there and all the way home. In addition, he hisses at other cats, like Kelly here, when they return from the vet.
- After visiting the litterboxes in the basement, he often makes a mad dash upstairs. Pat jokes after these incidents that “The Poopy Monster is after him!” (Sorry, no cartoon — someone else owns the rights to Mr. Hankey)
- Although he was just a stray, a cat the vets call a “Domestic Shorthair”, he exhibits enough of the characteristics of the Bombay breed that Pat calls him our Faux Bombay.
- Nicky is not completely black: He has one white hair on his chest.
- And by the way: here’s the difference between Nicky Cat and Nicky Katt.

He’s SO CUTE. I had a little black cat who would fetch once—maybe it’s genetic! But ALL my cats are nasty to whichever one returns from the vet. It reminds me of that seen in Galaxy Quest when the little green guys jump the one that’s hurt.

I love those facts. It is so cute to see a cat carrying their toys around!
Mickey had the odd stray white hair and as he gets older(14years) he seems to be getting more.
When he batted toys under the cough, I would get the big, wooden spoon. It was very long.
As soon as he saw it he ran immediately to the couchand would block my vision as I tried to fish out his toys.
Nickey is a very beautiful cat(why, yes i do like black cats)

Nicky is quite the cat. We loved the these pictures of him, but especially the one where he is lying upside on Pat’s leg and the one where he is hissing at Kelly. What a picture.

Those are great pictures we Nicky! He is a very lovely kitty - Mommy loves black cats. Her last black cat was not completely black either - he had about 5 white hairs right where Nicky’s one white hair is!

Great Thursday Thirteen! Nicky is great at playing fetch. My sisters trained mommy to play fetch with them instead. They knock their toys down the stairs, and mommy goes to get them and bring them back up.

Nicky is definitely a Good Cat. My favorite photo is #9 because he looks just like a miniature panther. And Kelly is acting so nonchalant about everything.

Happy Birthday!!
I hope that you have a nice snuggle with Pat to celebrate.
I also like to have a dash after visiting the litter box. My beans call it my victory lap.

Nicky is more than handsome. He is also quite evocative of my beloved Boo and Rocky, both of whom were born on 3/17/84. Rocky died at age 15 in 1999 of complications of diabetes. Boo lived another couple of years and left me shortly after 9/11! They were beautiful, they were loving, they were entertaining and most of all, they were INDIVIDUALS. They were, as a friend of mine put it, “wombmates” and mostly they adored each other - except when they wanted to kill each other! Rocky was fragile, emotional, hilariously funny, and indelibly sweet to the very core of his being - a kitty without a mean bone in his body. Boo was intelligent in the extreme, substantial without being in any way fat, possessed of a gorgeous face, body and most of all - his fur! His devotion was astounding and reciprocated. And despite the fact that the amazing Sam has now become a part of my life, Boo and Rocky are still deeply and permanently missed. I will never forget either of them and the love and cheer they brought into my life.
But seeing the pics of Nicky Cat brought my two beloved boys back to me for just a moment, and for that I thank you.

Hi there,
I got your submission for the 1001 Cats Blog Carnival, thank you for sending it. Due to the low number of articles received, I decided to postpone publishing this edition with one week. Your article has been chosen to be featured, you don’t have to submit it again.

Oh my gosh!! I can’t believe I forgot to come back and wish you a Happy Birthday! I saw that it was and I was having trouble with my computer and forgot!!!
We hope you had a really great birthday! The Rollercoaster Game looks like a lot of fun! I look a lot like a bombay cat, only we thought it was Burmese, so my OTW calls me her Great Big Beautiful Burmese Boycat. Do you have a halfmoon mark on the top of you mouth behind your front teeth too?
You are one handsome Good Cat!!!
