It’s All True
With the Red Sox up on the Rockies this year, here’s just a little something I remember from 2004, when the Sox reversed the so-called Curse of the Bambino…
- The Sox were beaten by the New York Yankees more than once during that 86-year period between World Series wins, up to and including the 2003 ALCS (see: “Aaron @*#*$% Boone” along with “Bucky @*#&$% Dent”, whose names live in infamy along with “Bill @*#&$% Buckner”). But in 2004, they beat the Yankees, and not only did they win, they won after falling behind 3 games to none, and they won the last two games in Yankee Stadium.
- Four times after 1918 the Red Sox reached the World Series, and each time they lost in 7 games. Two were to the St. Louis Cardinals (1946, 1967), but in 2004 they defeated the Cardinals in 4 straight.
- The other two times (1975, 1986) the Red Sox were leading in the final game of the Series by a score of 3 to nothing before losing the lead, the game, and the Series. However, the final score of the final game of the 2004 Series was… wait for it… 3 to nothing.
Now, those are the kinds of things that might lead someone so inclined to believe that a curse has been reversed — and then some… just the same, Go Rox!

Forget Boone and Dent. People will learn to forget the curse - they’ll have to since this franchise just REFUSES to lose. Besides, the curse transferred to New York - the curse of A-Rod.
After tonight, when Jon Lester takes to the mound after surviving Cancer and making one of the great sports comebacks of all time - a new story will be told. Expect one day for them to make a movie of how he came back and clinched the World Series for our beloved Red Sox. Even Joe Buck will have to except that.
Go Sox, keep the undefeated World Series streak - go for 8!
