Used this same photo of El Gatito Perfecto on Black Friday last year. It’s one of my favorites of the little guy, and judging from the number of hotlinks there were to it, it was a favorite of a lot of other people, too.

This short film was made in 1900, and it’s from the Lumière Brothers. A little girl appears to be feeding the nameless cat the 19th-century equivalent of Temptations.
A few seconds in, the cat jumps off the table, and it sure looks as if it was thrown back into the picture. Wouldn’t you know it? Even then, in the early days of film, a cat would not cooperate with a photographer — undoubtedly a characteristic of a Good Cat…
