Remembering an Absent Friend

This is El Gato Perfecto. He was a big man cat, and he was a good cat.

Everyday life with Good Cats, plus anything else that comes to mind.

A few seconds of sights and sounds from a spring morning, including the first goldfinch of spring.
One more chore before calling it a day — cleaning the cat boxes. It’s been two full weeks, and Caitie has been a good kitty for the entire time. But we don’t want to push our luck, either…
Just finished one unscheduled task. WordPress has upgraded to version 2.5, but I’ve been satisfied with 2.2, and in the past even a simple upgrade gave me the willies, so I had no intentions of getting the newer version.
Except tonight, Ed Bott posted that he had felt the same way, but with the help of the plugin WordPress Automatic Upgrade, he’d finished the job in less than five minutes. That’s all the endorsement I needed; I got the plugin, installed it, and then pretty much got out of its way. And here we are, running version 2.5 without a hitch or a glitch. Big hat tip to Keith Dsouza for this plugin.
Up early, especially for a Saturday. That’s because I have a cold and went to sleep early last night, and am feeling somewhat better this morning, at least good enough to feel like getting up at 6 a.m.

Catching up on emails from last night, I got some sad news from Best Friends. We’d been sponsoring Dan, a big man cat with a tiny meow and litterbox issues that kept him from being adopted. BF reports Dan recently passed away at the age of 15.
1) One Cat Link: We’re thankful that Kelly has been in good health since we changed his food. It seems as though more cats than usual are under the weather lately, and over at Pet Purrs & Purrayers many kind folks are ready “to send purrs, purrayers, pawsitive thoughts & kitty mojo to friends in need…regardless of religious beliefs (any or none).”
2) One Video Link: It takes skill, agility and a great sense of timing to be a champion at Double dutch jump rope. (The site is in French, but you don’t have to read anything… just watch the hopping, skipping and jumping and enjoy.)
3) One Other Link: The unspoken often says more than what a person puts in words. Learn to interpret non-verbal communication with this quick guide to body language.
Next Thursday, a T-Thirteen with “Things I Learned Last Month.”
