A Meme By the Book

Posted in This, that and the other at 0:05

We’ve been tagged for a meme by the good folks over at 4 Cats and a Lady.

Here are the rules:

  • Pick up the nearest book.
  • Open to page 123.
  • Find the fifth sentence.
  • Post the next three sentences.
  • Tag five people and post a comment once you have posted it.

The book is “John Adams”, by David McCullough. (We don’t have HBO, so it’s the next best thing, I guess.)

Time and timing were both of the essence, now more than ever. Reminders of time passing were everywhere about him: the great clock ticking away on the outside wall of the State House; bells at night striking the hour; the “clarions” of a hundred roosters calling across town as he began his day at first light.

“What in the name of Common Sense are you gentlemen of the Continental Congress about?” demanded a constituent writing from Massachusetts. “Is it dozing?”

Throwing this open to volunteers now… who else wants to play?

    I don’t have a blog, nor will I be tagging anyone but just for fun I opened the book I had in front of me to page 123. Here are sentences 6, 7 & 8;
    6) #20. Non disponible sur ce modele.
    7) #21. Fourmit les informations sur le fonctionnement et procedures de reglage ou l’information definie pour le menu ou le reglage actuel pendant l’utilisation du menu.
    8) #22. Appuyez sur cette touche pour afficher un des huit pointeurs; appuyez a nouveau sur cette touche pour cacher le pointeur.

    John responds:

    Merci beaucoup! It sounds like an instruction manual for a Palm Pilot or something like it.

    By the way, for anyone else reading this, Jack is Pat’s son, and while he doesn’t have a blog, he and his wife Jennie are webmeisters for a site that is currently keeping everyone updated on the adorable month-old puppies at Absolute Collies.
