I’ve heard of clover honey, orange blossom honey, but never catnip honey. However, our Good Cats aren’t the only ones hanging around the catnip plants lately.
Come to find it out, catnip has even more uses than I’d realized. For instance: it can be used for human hair care.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
- Robert A. Heinlein
Today was a much better day than the day before when it came to getting things accomplished. Can’t say I did any of the tasks Heinlein laid out above — or that I could even do very many of them if I tried — but this morning I finished fixing the PC, in the afternoon I fixed a shelf in the kitchen, and this evening I fixed a batch of Toll House cookies.
Here’s how it looked in the PC room just before I put everything back together again:
And finally, finally, things can get back to normal around here…

I looked out the back window and saw these two rabbits, and I ran to get the camera. In the past, two rabbits this close together meant something entertaining was going to happen soon — which it did. The only disappointment was that it didn’t last longer. But that’s what slow-motion is for…

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” - Albert Einstein
This blog has been around about 3 years, and I’ve wondered when I’m going to run out of things on our property to photograph, but I keep finding new subjects without feeling as though I’m working particularly hard at it.
Yes, I’ve photographed spiders before, more than once, in fact, but not this particular kind.

A hawk is harassed by a smaller bird until the raptor moves out of its territory. The smaller bird then zooms down, and probably back to its nest.

Look who was sitting outside the front door when I got home Monday afternoon. It didn’t look to me as though he disapproved of anything, but I could be wrong. After taking the picture, I watched the cottontail hop slowly to a small patch of clover in the front yard and start nibbling, and that’s where I left him.

When Caitie was very young, she was neglected by the human loser who was supposed to be responsible for her. Rather than whine, the little calico simply went about looking for another source of food. One source she found was in the garbage bags belonging to a neighbor, who took pity on her and notified the cat organization from which we adopted her.
Caitie can still cope. Her humans just had her favorite patch of grass yanked out by the roots in an effort to landscape, but that was no big problem to her — she just went out and found another patch of grass.
Here’s a look ahead: Thursday we’ll post Caitie’s “Seven Useful Things” meme, then, Traditional Friday Cat Blogging will include a professional photograph of our little calico that was taken more than 10 years ago, but which we’ve never posted, and we’ll also tell you the reason why we didn’t.
Finally, Saturday is the 11th anniversary of Caitie’s Gotcha Day, and we’re planning to post some video footage from the day she was brought to us in 1997, plus a little video that will once more spotlight her agility and athletic ability.
