Lizzie discovers the great outdoors, and says Look out, world...

Kelly and Caitie-Belle have always loved going outside, learning quickly to accept the harness and leash we used to keep them out of trouble.  When we adopted Lizzie, though, she was much different, so easily frightened that for years she was an indoors-only cat.

Over time, she's responded to our patient, unconditional love (especially Pat's) and grown more confident.  It wasn't really a surprise then, when one day, some months after moving into the new house, we saw Lizzie at the back screen door.  She could see, just outside on the deck, the little container of grass we grow for the cats.

Pat slid the door open and, for the first time, Lizzie cautiously stepped into the sunshine.  It wasn't long before she was demanding to go out every day and enjoy the fresh air like her housemates.  Now, when it's time to go back inside, she complains like a child who wants to stay out and play a little longer.
