Good news about Kelly: his eye is back to normal, and so is his attitude. When I went to bed last night, Kelly was sleeping in a chair downstairs, but by the time I got up this morning, he was in bed near me. Welcome back, Big Guy! Nicky probably didn't miss having Kelly on the bed. While last Friday's post described how Kelly became jealous after we adopted Nicky, in fact the little black cat is so devoted to Pat that he can act just as jealous or worse where she is concerned. This reaction usually shows itself when another of the Good Cats approaches Pat and tries to get close to her, but a few days ago, Pat told me that she stopped on the steps to pet Kelly, who was lying in the sun on the landing. In seconds, Nicky appeared and insisted that she stop and pay attention to him. Our Gatito Perfecto doesn't want anything to come between him and his favorite human. Last week, Pat was taking care of granddaughter Diana. The baby was napping upstairs, so Pat was taking the opportunity to do some other things downstairs. And as usual at times like those, Nicky was on her lap. Then she heard Diana start fussing in her crib, and shortly it turned into squalling. Pat said that before she could get up for the baby, Nicky looked up in the direction of the noise and growled, an emotionally honest reaction that Pat took to mean, "Oh, be quiet, kid, and leave us alone!"

A four-month-old kitten named Whiskers thought it would be fun to play with the telephone, which is why Whiskers's humans were awakened at 2 in the morning by the local police. At The Oubliette, Alabama blogger Mira features her black cat Noah just getting comfy in a chair. Stumpy, Sifter and Jerome are the attractive Kiwi cats who have posed for pictures in Moosey's Country Garden. We used to think 3 Good Cats were enough until Nicky came along and changed our minds. There is a website devoted to the many good things in the world that come in threes.

Traditional Friday Cat Blogging: A typical mealtime scene: Nicky has positioned himself closest to Pat, and between her and Kelly. Ears back, the black cat is ready to fight fiercely to keep his place near her. |
